Yale
University founded in 1701 is among the oldest educational institution in the
United States located in New Haven, Connecticut. It holds the reputation for
excellence in teaching and is mostly known for its excellence in music and drama.
The University spreads in the 343 acres and the setting is urban. Though its
approach is both national and international, it partners up with its hometown
of New Haven, Connecticut to strengthen the city’s economy and community. It
works along different institutions and people around the world to develop
cultural understanding and to improve the human condition, and train the
students to become the next world leaders of their field.
Yale University is research university made up
of college, the Graduate School of Arts and thirteen other professional
schools. Its Law School is top ranked in the United States and School of
Management, School of Medicine, School of Art and School of Nursing are also
highly ranked. Other well-known faculties in Yale are Drama, Forestry,
Environmental studies etc. The university also has the oldest college humor magazine
in the United States called Yale Record.
Yale has
student population around 123000 in which 5553 are undergraduate students, 6859
are graduate professional students including 4462 international students. To
show path and to help with the studies, there are around 4410 faculty members
which is 6:1 student-faculty ratio. The deadline for application in Yale is
January 1st. Only around 6% of the total applicants get admission in
the Yale. Nearly 50% of the students who were in need or deserved it in Yale
were awarded with scholarships in 2014.
Students
enrolled with Yale University are called Yalies. Students when arrive in Yale,
they are assigned in one of the 12 residential college. Each of the residential
college is unique with its own architecture , dining hall, court yard, library
and other things. Each college has its own deans and masters who live in the
college and eat with the students in dining hall.
According to university in 2014, 84% of the
graduate students from Yale are debt free, which shows that the students can
learn and peruse their dreams stress free.
