Duke University founded in 1838 is privately owned institution situated in Durham, North Carolina which has total area of 8709 acres. It is best known for its courses on liberal arts and engineering programs for undergraduates. It is listed under top ten universities in the United States. Its excellence in teaching through classroom and research and other activities enriches the minds of the scholars studying in Duke.

The Duke University offers education through 10 different schools and colleges. Most of them teach both undergraduate and graduate scholars. Its graduate programs of Fuqua School of Business, Pratt School of Engineering, School of Law, School of Medicine, Sanford School of Public Policy and School of Nursing are highly renowned. Its graduate schools Divinity School and Nichols School of the Environment are also highly renowned.  The university has semester based academic calendar, and the last date for application submission is January 2nd
The Duke University has 8:1 student faculty ratio which is less comparing with other universities of same level. Out of 31523 applicants in 2014 duke only accepted 1721 students from which we can know that the students with the best minds can get admission in Duke.
Duke University has students from all over the world of different background, beliefs, age groups and all races and religion who work together to harness the power of multiple viewpoints and life experiences to increase creativity, high performance and innovation. the percentage of students according to race are African-American 10%, American Indian 1%, Asian American 21%, Caucasian 48%, Foreign 10%, Hispanic 7%, and 16% others. According to the university the number of students in fall 2014 are undergraduate 6471 and graduate and professional students 8379 which makes total students 14850. 50 percent of the undergraduate students received scholarship.

The duke University also provides other facilities with education to the students to make students healthier and to help students study in relaxed environment. The different facilities are Medical Research, Athletics and Recreation, Residence Halls and Apartments. It also has Marine lab, Duke Forest, Golf Course, Gardens, etc.
